PROCEDURE FOR EXPULSION:<br />

I: MANAGEMENT CAPACITY<br />

The expulsion hearing will be presided over by the Integrity Educational Center Board of<br />

Directors, Superintendent/Principal (or his/her designee) such that there is a panel of three or more<br />

persons. The expulsion hearing shall be closed to the public unless the student or parent/guardian request<br />

in writing, at least five calendar days before the date of the hearing, that the hearing be conducted at a<br />

public meeting.<br />

All expulsion hearings will be videotaped and consent to this will be stipulated in the parent<br />

student handbook.<br />

Whether the hearing is open or closed to the public, the board may meet in closed session to<br />

Oiberate whether the student should be expelled.<br />

Written notice of the hearing will be forwarded to the student and the student's parent/guardian at<br />

least ten (10) calendar days before the date of the hearing. This notice will include:<br />

• The date and place of the hearing<br />

• A statement of the specific facts, charges and offense upon which the proposed expulsion is based<br />

• A copy of the Integrity Educational Center disciplinary rules, which relate to the alleged violation<br />

• Notification of the student's parents/guardian's obligation to provide information about the student's<br />

status in IEC to any other district in which the student seeks enrollment.<br />

• The opportunity for the student or the student's parent/guardian to appear in person or to employ<br />

representatives by a non-attorney or counsel at the sole cost and expense of the parent /guardian of<br />

the student recommended for the expulsion hearing.<br />

• The right to inspect and obtained copies of all documents to be used at the hearing<br />

• The opportunity to confront and question all witnesses who testify at the hearing<br />

• The opportunity to question all evidence presented and to present oral and documentary evidence on<br />
