The final component of any extension program is program evaluation and or accountability. However, program evaluation is a
continuous process and to be effective must be taken into account during all phases of program development. Program evaluation
is a plan for implementation of procedures to measure a program’s success or impact (summative evaluation), to improve
the program (formative evaluation), and/or report results to program stakeholders. Program evaluation includes the following:
1) Identification if the evaluation is to be formative or summative; 2) identification and design of appropriate survey instrument
data collection techniques that will be utilized; 3) determination of survey instrument validation and reliability; 4) collection of
evaluation data; 5) survey data analysis; and 6) reporting results. This presentation will provide an overview of these evaluation
components, providing additional discussion on potential sources of survey error.
