5.13.5 Loco unit while entering into block section & after clearing the block section<br />

(including the train length) shall in<strong>for</strong>m so alongwith their TIN to concerned<br />

Station/ IBS unit.<br />

5.13.6 Both the station /IBS unit <strong>of</strong> a block section together shall ensure that there is<br />

only one train with same TIN in the same block section. The <strong>of</strong>f aspect &<br />

movement authority to Loco unit <strong>for</strong> LSS shall be transmitted by Station/ IBS<br />

unit only when LSS is <strong>of</strong>f & concerned block section is clear <strong>of</strong> any train(s) <strong>of</strong><br />

the same TIN.<br />

5.13.7 Arrangements shall be made in Station/ IBS unit <strong>for</strong> resetting the occupancy<br />

<strong>of</strong> block section to clear status in case Loco unit <strong>of</strong> a train fails in the block<br />

section & it is unable to communicate its clearance from block section at the<br />

receiving Station/ IBS unit. The resetting arrangement shall have an electromechanical<br />

6 digit non resettable counter to record such resetting and shall<br />

be permitted only when the concerned block instruments are in Line Closed<br />

condition. .<br />

5.14 Prevention <strong>of</strong> Head on & Rear End <strong>Collision</strong>s<br />

5.14.1 Loco units either directly or through Station unit, shall be capable <strong>of</strong> detecting<br />

head on collisions, rear end collisions <strong>of</strong> trains/locos on single line, multiple<br />

lines in all possible scenarios based on the track identification, speed <strong>of</strong> the<br />

trains, location, traffic direction etc.<br />

5.14.2 In case <strong>of</strong> head on collision situation, Loco units <strong>of</strong> both the trains shall<br />

automatically apply brakes to bring the trains/locomotives to a stop short <strong>of</strong><br />

safe distance from each other.<br />

5.14.3 In case <strong>of</strong> rear end collision situation, Loco unit <strong>of</strong> only rear train shall<br />

automatically apply brakes to bring it to a stop short <strong>of</strong> safe distance from the<br />

train ahead. There shall be no brake application in train ahead on account <strong>of</strong><br />

rear end collision situation.<br />

5.14.4 As soon as the head-on collision or rear end collision, as the case may be,<br />

situation is over, the application <strong>of</strong> brakes by Loco unit shall be withdrawn.<br />

5.15 Detection <strong>of</strong> Parting/Jumbling<br />

5.15.1 Loco unit through a potential free contact to be made available by the<br />

railways, shall detect parting/ jumbling <strong>of</strong> the train and shall transmit ‘<strong>Train</strong><br />

Parted/ Jumbled’ message automatically.<br />

5.15.2 Loco unit <strong>of</strong> trains approaching the parted/jumbled train, on getting the ‘<strong>Train</strong><br />

Parted/ Jumbled’ message, shall apply brakes to bring the train/locomotive to<br />

a stop short <strong>of</strong> safe distance from parted/ jumbled train.<br />

5.15.3 Loco unit shall have provision <strong>for</strong> material trains, ARTs and other similar trains<br />

which are required to be parted <strong>for</strong> handling the work at site. In such case,<br />

Loco unit shall not transmit ‘<strong>Train</strong> Parted/ Jumbled’ message.<br />

5.15.4 Suitable arrangement to facilitate shunting in station section/block section<br />

shall be provided.<br />

5.16 SOS<br />

5.16.1 Loco as well as Station unit shall have provision <strong>of</strong> sending SOS message by<br />

pressing twin SOS buttons. SOS buttons shall be so placed that these could<br />

not be pressed inadvertently. When the twin SOS buttons are pressed<br />

simultaneously in Loco or Station units, the Loco units <strong>of</strong> all the trains/locos<br />

within 3000m radius <strong>of</strong> SOS generating source as well as self-train (if SOS is<br />

generated by Loco unit), shall automatically & without any time lag apply<br />

emergency brakes so as to stop the train(s) even if reception <strong>of</strong> message is<br />

not continued after receiving it once. SOS sending as well as receiving TCAS<br />

equipments shall log sending & receiving <strong>of</strong> SOS message.<br />

5.16.2 After the train stops due to reception <strong>of</strong> SOS, emergency brake shall be<br />

released if the Loco Pilot presses the ‘Cancel’ push button. However, in such<br />

condition, the Loco unit <strong>of</strong> the train shall impose a speed limit <strong>of</strong> 15 kmph. The<br />
