Proceedings of READIT-2009, Kalpakkam - 603 102, 29-30 Dec 2009 CONCLUSION Web 2.0 and open source systems are providing the opportunity for the libraries to transform the ways in which it reaches a diverse and geographically spread client base. The Koha installation has enabled the library service to provide a greatly enhanced library service, especially to the many staff in isolated locations that are rarely in a situation to visit the library personally. The functionality of the system is comparable to many of the better-known commercial systems, while the system’s flexibility allows much greater local adaptability of the various modules. As a cost-effective method of enabling small libraries to establish a web presence it is a system with enormous potential. Web 2.0 technologies are very essential for libraries. These technologies change the library environment.
