The queried information can be presented in the form of reports and graphs for analysis and decision making purpose. The frequency of usage of library resource can be easily figured out from the queries. The new information can be discovered by the analysis and further this can be shared. The Library knowledge warehouse enhances the availability of data, as well as increase the efficiency of the organization. The corollary of knowledge management used by the Library and information professionals as library management, information management now due impact of information and communication technology and growth and development knowledge based industries and corporate organization. Due these development and the KM tools, strategies, techniques are emerging to solve the problems of both tacit knowledge and explicit knowledge in any organizations. The present paper is made an attempt to application of knowledge management tools, techniques and technologies for better management of libraries and information centers. INTRODUCTION Libraries have been service driven repositories of knowledge from time immemorial and they rendered this role in a satisfactory manner with the help of tools like classification systems, cataloguing practices, indexing routines, subject heading and keyword assigning procedures, for effective library organization and efficient information services. With the onset of electronic sources and more focus on nonpaper multimedia information resources, mere management of library and its collection was changed to encompass complex techniques of information processing and management. As a result, the libraries must be conversant with tracking not only locally hold collection owned by the libraries but also fee based access of electronic journals and other consortia information resources and free access of internet information. The arrival of information Technology (IT) and the spread of internet challenged the established roles of libraries and producers, consumers, and publishers of information. Thus the focus over the years in libraries changed from library management (more focus on form and sources) to information management (more focus on content to knowledge management (value addition of information to knowledge). We do things primarily for the customer whereas in knowledge management, the client as well as libraries and librarians are beneficiaries. In other works, on the one hand we are planning to map the knowledge about libraries, its work practices, its user needs, qualifiers concerning collection and service details, special abilities of its professionals and other staff in ‘synergy’ into a system to substantially improve the library operations. This may seem something similar to the expert systems and artificial intelligence based techniques earlier, however the difference with knowledge management is that they are not meant to replace the human beings, but to aid their working with the expertise of other personnel working in the organization in a shared work environment
