• The story:<br />
- It is 5:30. Pisei gets up <strong>and</strong> gets dressed. She wakes the children <strong>and</strong> gets them dressed<br />
as well. While the children are playing, Pisei prepares breakfast. Her husb<strong>and</strong> wakes up,<br />
gets dressed <strong>and</strong> all together they eat their breakfast. Pisei brings her children to their<br />
gr<strong>and</strong>mother while her husb<strong>and</strong> talks a bit with the neighbours<br />
- When Pisei returns from her mother they both go to the bus stop <strong>and</strong> take the bus to the<br />
factory where they work<br />
- They do their work till break <strong>and</strong> have lunch in the cafeteria of the factory with their<br />
colleagues<br />
- When the working day is over Pisei hurries to get the bus to go home to pick up the children<br />
at her mothers house. Her husb<strong>and</strong> goes home after talking to his colleagues<br />
- Pisei, with the children on the way home, does some shopping in the market area next to<br />
the bus stop<br />
- At home she prepares dinner, while her husb<strong>and</strong> plays with the kids. They have dinner<br />
together <strong>and</strong> after dinner Pisei brings the children to bed<br />
- Pisei does the dishes <strong>and</strong> some cleaning while her husb<strong>and</strong> goes out to watch TV with his<br />
friends<br />
- They both go to bed at 22:00 hours<br />
Step 2<br />
• Discuss the day of Pisei very briefly <strong>and</strong> pay some attention to the mood of the actors during<br />
the story. Why were they happy, sad or angry? Keep the discussion brief<br />
Step 3<br />
• Ask all participants to take their place in the original setting again<br />
• Tell the story again but introduce the following problem: the mother of Pisei becomes very ill.<br />
She can not take care of her gr<strong>and</strong>children anymore <strong>and</strong> needs care herself.<br />
• The story changes to:<br />
- It is 5:30. Pisei gets up <strong>and</strong> gets dressed. She wakes the children <strong>and</strong> gets them dressed<br />
as well. While the children are playing, Pisei prepares breakfast. Her husb<strong>and</strong> wakes up,<br />
gets dressed <strong>and</strong> all together they eat their breakfast. Pisei brings her children at their<br />
neighbours but this is no permanent solution<br />
- Pisei is very worried about her mother. She pays her a short visit to wash her <strong>and</strong> to bring<br />
some food. Her husb<strong>and</strong> takes the bus to work<br />
- After visiting her mother Pisei also takes the bus to the factory where a very angry<br />
supervisor is waiting for her. She explains the problem <strong>and</strong> starts working till break. She is<br />
very tired because she did not sleep so well due to her worries about her mother. She<br />
makes a mistake in her work <strong>and</strong> the supervisor becomes angry again <strong>and</strong> shouts that she<br />
will be fired if she makes one more mistake<br />
- When the working day is over Pisei <strong>and</strong> her husb<strong>and</strong> take the bus home. Pisei goes straight<br />
to her mother <strong>and</strong> prepares a meal for her. She does some shopping on her way home,<br />
picks up the children <strong>and</strong> starts cooking. Her husb<strong>and</strong> is a bit angry because she is too late<br />
with dinner <strong>and</strong> he is very hungry<br />
- After dinner Pisei brings the children to bed <strong>and</strong> goes to her mother again to see if she<br />
needs anything <strong>and</strong> puts her into bed. The friends of her husb<strong>and</strong> come to their house<br />
- When she comes home her husb<strong>and</strong> is already asleep <strong>and</strong> after doing the dishes Pisei also<br />
goes to bed<br />
Step 4<br />
• Discuss the story with the participants using the following questions:<br />
- What do they think of the changes in Pisei’s life?<br />
- How did all persons feel?<br />
- What would they do if they were Pisei?<br />
