in Australia.<br />

Reports <strong>of</strong> D. <strong>antarctica</strong> are <strong>of</strong> drift specimens (Moore<br />

<strong>and</strong> Cribb 1952:1100; Kenneally 1972:78) 0 D. potatol'1Am is<br />

to the southeast region on coasts that Bennett <strong>and</strong> Pope (1953) called<br />

cool temperate, Lucas (1936:81) gave the range as Tasmania <strong>and</strong><br />

Vic·torian coastline bet.ween Cape !-1m·,e <strong>and</strong> Cape Northumberlcmd.<br />

Bennett <strong>and</strong> Pope: (1953) <strong>and</strong> Womersley (1959) described a Hider range<br />

on the mainl<strong>and</strong> coast. According to these authors the species<br />

extends from Robe in South Australia to Bermagui in Ne\Il South Wales.<br />
