<strong>Evaluation</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Integrated</strong> <strong>Coastal</strong> <strong>Zone</strong> <strong>Management</strong> (<strong>ICZM</strong>) <strong>in</strong> Europe – F<strong>in</strong>al Report<br />

New Neighbourhood and Partnership <strong>in</strong>strument (ENPI):<br />

For the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, the ENPI could<br />

provide helpful support to prepare the ground for co-operations<br />

<strong>in</strong> terms <strong>of</strong> <strong>ICZM</strong>. Basic conditions and priorities for enabl<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>ICZM</strong> should therefore be laid down <strong>in</strong> the national ENP Action<br />

Plans.<br />

7th Research Framework Programme as the largest research<br />

Programme <strong>in</strong> Europe will have to play a key role <strong>in</strong> fund<strong>in</strong>g<br />

<strong>ICZM</strong>-related research, demonstration, coord<strong>in</strong>ation, and<br />

tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g activities <strong>in</strong> its sub-programmes and themes. As the<br />

priorities for FP7 calls are be<strong>in</strong>g annually agreed, <strong>ICZM</strong> should<br />

be cont<strong>in</strong>uously put high on the fund<strong>in</strong>g agenda.<br />

Rapid response and preparedness <strong>in</strong>strument for major<br />

emergencies should fund especially methodologies and<br />

capacity build<strong>in</strong>g as regards preparedness for risks.<br />
