16–2. Composition<br />

a. The class A green service uniform consists <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Army</strong> green coat, skirt or slacks, an AG shade 415 short- or<br />

long-sleeved tuck-in shirt, <strong>and</strong> a black neck tab. (For accessories <strong>and</strong> other items authorized for wear on the class A<br />

green service uniform see para 16–11.)<br />

b. The class B green uniform consists <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Army</strong> green skirt or slacks <strong>and</strong> an AG shade 415 long- or short-sleeved<br />

tuck-in shirt. Soldiers will wear a black neck tab with the long-sleeved AG shade 415 shirt when it is worn without the<br />

class A coat, as an outer garment. (See para 16–11 for accessories <strong>and</strong> other items authorized for wear with the class B<br />

uniform.)<br />

c. The <strong>Army</strong> green dress uniform (authorized for enlisted personnel only) consists <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Army</strong> green coat <strong>and</strong> skirt,<br />

white shirt with black neck tab, <strong>and</strong> black service pumps. The black beret is authorized for wear with this uniform.<br />

When the enlisted <strong>Army</strong> green dress uniform is worn for evening social occasions (after retreat), headgear is not<br />

required. Combat boots, oxford shoes, <strong>and</strong> organizational items, such as brassards <strong>and</strong> MP accessories, are not<br />

authorized for wear with the enlisted <strong>Army</strong> green dress uniform. All other accessories <strong>and</strong> insignia that are authorized<br />

for wear with the class A service uniform are authorized for wear with the enlisted <strong>Army</strong> green dress uniform (see para<br />

16–11 below).<br />

16–3. Classification<br />

The <strong>Army</strong> green service uniform is a clothing bag issue item. The <strong>Army</strong> green dress uniform is an optional dress<br />

uniform for enlisted personnel when worn with the skirt <strong>and</strong> white shirt with black neck tab. The beret is an<br />

organizational issue item. DA Pam 710–2–1 governs turn-in <strong>and</strong> reissue <strong>of</strong> the beret.<br />

16–4. Occasions for wear<br />

a. The <strong>Army</strong> green service uniform (class A) <strong>and</strong> authorized variations (class B) are authorized for wear by all<br />

female personnel when on duty, <strong>of</strong>f duty, or during travel. These uniforms also are acceptable for informal social<br />

functions after retreat, unless the host prescribes other uniforms.<br />

b. The following are appropriate occasions for enlisted personnel to wear the <strong>Army</strong> green dress uniform.<br />

(1) At social functions <strong>of</strong> a private or <strong>of</strong>ficial nature either before or after retreat, <strong>and</strong> while in transit to <strong>and</strong> from<br />

such functions. Otherwise, it is not authorized for travel.<br />

(2) When designated by the host.<br />

16–5. Materials<br />

a. The m<strong>and</strong>atory date for possession <strong>of</strong> the materials described in paragraph 16–5b, below, is extended until 1 Oct<br />

2003. Until that time, females are authorized to wear the green service uniform components in AG shades 344 (poly/<br />

wool) <strong>and</strong> 434 (polyester).<br />

b. Coat, slacks, <strong>and</strong> skirt. The coat, slacks, <strong>and</strong> skirt will be made <strong>of</strong> the same material <strong>and</strong> shade.<br />

(1) Polyester/wool serge, 11.8 ounce (st<strong>and</strong>ard-issue fabric), AG shade 489.<br />

(2) Polyester/wool gabardine, 10.6 ounce (optional purchase fabric), AG shade 489.<br />

(3) Texturized woven polyester, 10.1 ounce (optional purchase fabric), AG shade 491.<br />

(4) Polyester/wool elastique, 16.0 ounce (optional purchase fabric), AG shade 489.<br />

c. Headgear.<br />

(1) Beret (para 3–2b(1)).<br />

(2) Garrison cap, female personnel. The material may be any <strong>of</strong> the materials listed for the coat, slacks, <strong>and</strong> skirt in<br />

paragraph 16–5a, above.<br />

16–6. Coat, <strong>Army</strong> green<br />

a. Design. The coat will be made from an approved specification or pattern.<br />

b. General description. The coat is a single-breasted, four-button, hip-length coat, with two slanted, flap front<br />

pockets, button-down shoulder loops, a notched collar, <strong>and</strong> side-body construction.<br />

c. Coat sleeve ornamentation.<br />

(1) General <strong>of</strong>ficers. The sleeve has a b<strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> black mohair, polyester, or mercerized cotton braid 1 1 ⁄2 inches wide,<br />

sewn on each sleeve with the lower edge parallel to, <strong>and</strong> 3 inches above the bottom edge <strong>of</strong> each sleeve.<br />

(2) Other <strong>of</strong>ficers. The sleeve has a b<strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> black mohair, polyester, or mercerized cotton braid 1 ⁄2 inch wide, sewn<br />

on each sleeve with the lower edge parallel to, <strong>and</strong> 3 inches above the bottom edge <strong>of</strong> each sleeve.<br />

(3) Enlisted personnel. The sleeve is plain.<br />
