b. Description <strong>of</strong> subdued branch insignia for aides.<br />

(1) Aides to the President <strong>and</strong> Vice President <strong>of</strong> the United States. The insignia are the same designs <strong>and</strong> sizes as<br />

the full-color branch insignia covered in paragraph a, above, except the insignia are black-colored metal. For embroidered<br />

subdued insignia, the background <strong>of</strong> the shield is olive-drab <strong>and</strong> the eagle, stars, <strong>and</strong> outline <strong>of</strong> the shield are<br />

black.<br />

Note. Variations <strong>of</strong> spicebrown embroidery on khaki cloth are used for desert insignia.<br />

(2) Aides to the Secretary <strong>of</strong> Defense. The insignia is the same design <strong>and</strong> size as the full-color branch insignia<br />

covered in paragraph a, above, except the insignia is black-colored metal. For embroidered subdued insignia, the<br />

background <strong>of</strong> the shield is olive-drab <strong>and</strong> the eagle, stars, arrows, <strong>and</strong> outline <strong>of</strong> the shield are black.<br />

(3) Aides to the Secretary <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Army</strong>. The insignia is the same design <strong>and</strong> size as the full-color branch insignia<br />

covered in paragraph a, above, except the insignia is black-colored metal. For embroidered subdued insignia, the<br />

background <strong>of</strong> the shield is olive-drab <strong>and</strong> the eagle, stars, device, <strong>and</strong> outline <strong>of</strong> the shield are black.<br />

(4) Aides to the Under Secretary <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Army</strong>. The insignia is the same design <strong>and</strong> size as the full-color branch<br />

insignia covered in paragraph a, above, except the insignia is brown-colored metal. For embroidered subdued insignia,<br />

the background <strong>of</strong> the shield is olive drab <strong>and</strong> the eagle, stars, device, <strong>and</strong> outline <strong>of</strong> the shield are brown.<br />

(5) Aides to the Chairman Joint Chiefs <strong>of</strong> Staff; aides to the Vice Chairman, Joint Chiefs <strong>of</strong> Staff; aides to the Chief<br />

<strong>of</strong> Staff <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Army</strong>, <strong>and</strong> aides to the Vice Chief <strong>of</strong> Staff <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Army</strong>. The insignia are the same designs <strong>and</strong> sizes as<br />

the full-color branch insignia covered in paragraph a, above, except the insignia are black-colored metal. For embroidered<br />

subdued insignia, the background <strong>of</strong> the shield is olive drab, <strong>and</strong> the charges, eagle, diagonal division line(s), <strong>and</strong><br />

outline <strong>of</strong> the shield are black.<br />

(6) Aides to general <strong>of</strong>ficers. The insignia is the same design <strong>and</strong> size as the full-color branch insignia covered in<br />

paragraph a, above, except the insignia is black-colored metal. For embroidered subdued insignia, the shield <strong>of</strong><br />
