4–2. Composition <strong>and</strong> classification<br />

a. Material composition. Fabric is 100 percent ripstop cotton (old fabric blend), or a 50/50 nylon <strong>and</strong> cotton ripstop<br />

poplin (new fabric blend).<br />

b. Uniform composition.<br />

(1) Beret (para 3–2b(1)).<br />

(2) Cap, patrol (formerly BDU) (para 3–2b(2)).<br />

(3) Coat, cold weather, camouflage pattern (para 3–2a(1)).<br />

(4) Coat, maternity, woodl<strong>and</strong> camouflage pattern. A single-breasted coat style design with a collar, two patch<br />

pockets with flaps, a straight-cut bottom, sleeve tabs, <strong>and</strong> pleated side-body panels with take-up tabs.<br />

(5) Trousers, maternity, woodl<strong>and</strong> camouflage pattern. The trousers have a front stretch panel with an elasticized<br />

waistb<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> side pockets, with flaps on both legs.<br />

c. Accessories. The following accessories are normally worn with this uniform.<br />

(1) Boots, combat, leather, black (para 27–3).<br />

(2) Chaplain’s apparel (para 27–7)<br />

(3) Coat, black all weather (para 27–8). (See para 4–5d for wear policy.)<br />

(4) Gloves, black, leather shell, with inserts (para 27–12a).<br />

(5) H<strong>and</strong>bags.<br />

(a) Black, clutch type, optional purchase (para 27–13a).<br />

(b) Black, shoulder (para 27–13d).<br />

(6) Hat, drill sergeant (para 27–14a).<br />

(7) Military Police accessories (para 27–16).<br />

(8) Neckgaiter (para 27–17).<br />

(9) Scarves.<br />

(a) Black (with black overcoat only) (para 27–21a).<br />

(b) Olive-green 208 (para 27–21b).<br />

(10) Socks, black, cushion sole (para 27–24a).<br />

(11) Undergarments (para 27–28).<br />

(12) Undershirt, brown (para 27–28e).<br />

(13) Organizational clothing <strong>and</strong> equipment, as determined by the comm<strong>and</strong>er, according to CTA 50–900.<br />

(14) Personal hydration systems, as determined by the comm<strong>and</strong>er.<br />

d. Classification. The maternity work uniform is an organizationally issued utility <strong>and</strong> field uniform. The beret is an<br />

organizational issue item. DA Pam 710–2–1 governs turn-in <strong>and</strong> reissue <strong>of</strong> the beret.<br />

4–3. Occasions for wear<br />

a. The maternity work uniform is worn on duty when prescribed by the comm<strong>and</strong>er. Females may wear the<br />

maternity work BDUs <strong>of</strong>f post unless prohibited by the comm<strong>and</strong>er. They may not wear the maternity work uniform<br />

for commercial travel, unless authorized by para 1–10c <strong>of</strong> this regulation. Soldiers may not wear the maternity work<br />

uniform in establishments that primarily sell alcohol. If the establishment sells alcohol <strong>and</strong> food, soldiers may not wear<br />

utility uniforms if their activities in the establishment center on drinking alcohol only.<br />

b. Utility uniforms are not normally considered appropriate for social or <strong>of</strong>ficial functions <strong>of</strong>f the installation, such<br />

as memorial services <strong>and</strong> funerals. The maternity work uniform is issued as an organizational utility or field maternity<br />

uniform <strong>and</strong> is not intended for wear when other maternity uniforms are more appropriate.<br />

4–4. <strong>Insignia</strong> <strong>and</strong> accouterments<br />

The following insignia <strong>and</strong> accouterments are authorized for wear on the maternity work uniform.<br />

a. Badges, special skill (para 29–17).<br />

b. Brassards (para 28–29).<br />

c. Branch insignia (paras 28–10b <strong>and</strong> 28–12b).<br />

d. Grade insignia (paras 28–5, 28–6, <strong>and</strong> 28–7).<br />

e. Headgear insignia (para 28–3).<br />

f. Subdued shoulder sleeve insignia, current organization (para 28–16e(2)).<br />

g. Shoulder sleeve insignia-former wartime service (para 28–17c(2)).<br />

h. Name <strong>and</strong> U.S. <strong>Army</strong> distinguishing tapes (paras 28–24a <strong>and</strong> 28–24b).<br />

i. Organizational flash (para 28–31a).<br />
