(3) The <strong>Army</strong> blue <strong>and</strong> white dress uniforms. If worn, the cuff links will be plain gold or gold-colored metal, as<br />

described in paragraph 27–10b(2), above.<br />

27–11. Cummerbunds<br />

a. Cummerbund, black, female <strong>and</strong> male.<br />

(1) Type. The cummerbund is an optional purchase item.<br />

(2) Description. The cummerbund is black, made <strong>of</strong> a commercial design, in silk or satin material, with four or five<br />

pleats running the entire length <strong>of</strong> the cummerbund.<br />

(3) How worn. The cummerbund is worn with the pleats facing down. Females wear the black cummerbund with<br />

the black, blue, <strong>and</strong> white mess <strong>and</strong> evening mess uniforms; males wear it with the white <strong>and</strong> blue mess uniforms. The<br />

male bow tie <strong>and</strong> cummerbund must be made <strong>of</strong> the same material.<br />

b. Cummerbund, white, female.<br />

(1) Type. The cummerbund is an optional purchase item.<br />

(2) Description. The cummerbund is white, made <strong>of</strong> a commercial design, in silk or satin material, with four or five<br />

pleats running the entire length <strong>of</strong> the cummerbund.<br />

(3) How worn. The white cummerbund is worn with the pleats facing down. Females wear the white cummerbund<br />

with the all-white mess uniform.<br />

27–12. Gloves<br />

a. Gloves, black, with inserts, unisex, leather shell.<br />

(1) Type. The gloves are clothing bag issue items.<br />

(2) Description. The gloves are a five-finger design in a slip-on style. An adjustable strap <strong>and</strong> buckle is provided on<br />

the back <strong>of</strong> the gloves. The inserts are black wool <strong>and</strong> are worn inside the black leather shell gloves. There is no wearout<br />

date for the green wool inserts, which may be worn until stocks are exhausted or until unserviceable.<br />

(3) How worn. These gloves are authorized for wear with or without cold-weather outer garments (to include the<br />

DBDU parka). Soldiers may wear the black leather shell gloves with utility uniforms without cold-weather outer<br />

garments, provided sleeves are rolled down. Personnel may not wear the inserts without the leather shell gloves when<br />

worn with utility uniforms <strong>and</strong> cold weather outer garments.<br />

b. Gloves, black, leather, unisex, dress.<br />

(1) Type. The gloves are clothing bag issue items.<br />

(2) Description. The gloves are black leather in an approved specification or pattern, or <strong>of</strong> a similar commercial<br />

design.<br />

(3) How worn. The gloves are authorized for wear with the class A service, <strong>Army</strong> green dress, <strong>and</strong> <strong>Army</strong> green<br />

maternity dress uniforms, <strong>and</strong> when wearing the black all-weather coat, windbreaker, or capes.<br />

c. Gloves, white dress.<br />

(1) Type. The gloves are optional purchase items.<br />

(2) Description. The gloves are made <strong>of</strong> cotton, kid, doeskin, silk, or other material <strong>of</strong> appropriate commercial<br />

design.<br />

(3) How worn. The gloves are authorized for year-round wear with the <strong>Army</strong> blue <strong>and</strong> white dress uniforms, <strong>and</strong> the<br />

<strong>Army</strong> blue, white, <strong>and</strong> black mess <strong>and</strong> evening mess uniforms. When prescribed by the comm<strong>and</strong>er, military police<br />

may wear white gloves with service uniforms.<br />

27–13. H<strong>and</strong>bags<br />

a. H<strong>and</strong>bag, clutch-type, leather, polyurethane, or vinyl.<br />

(1) Type. The h<strong>and</strong>bag is an optional purchase item.<br />

(2) Description. The h<strong>and</strong>bag is black <strong>and</strong> is made <strong>of</strong> leather, polyurethane, or vinyl, in a commercial design with a<br />

zipper, snap, or envelope-type closure. The h<strong>and</strong>bag may have a wrist strap, but not a shoulder strap.<br />

(3) How worn. Females may carry the clutch-type h<strong>and</strong>bag with the female service uniforms, <strong>and</strong> with the utility<br />

uniforms while in a garrison (non-field) environment. The leather version <strong>of</strong> this h<strong>and</strong>bag is authorized for use with the<br />

female <strong>Army</strong> blue uniform, during <strong>and</strong> after duty hours.<br />

b. H<strong>and</strong>bag, fabric or leather, black, dress.<br />

(1) Type. The h<strong>and</strong>bag is an optional purchase item.<br />

(2) Description. The h<strong>and</strong>bag is untrimmed, in black leather or fabric, <strong>of</strong> a commercial design, envelope or clutch<br />

style, with or without a chain or strap.<br />

(3) <strong>Wear</strong>.<br />

(a) Females may carry the black leather h<strong>and</strong>bag with the <strong>Army</strong> blue uniform, during <strong>and</strong> after duty hours.<br />

(b) Females may carry the black fabric h<strong>and</strong>bag with the black, white, <strong>and</strong> blue mess <strong>and</strong> evening mess uniforms. It<br />

is also authorized for use with the <strong>Army</strong> blue uniform, after duty hours.<br />

c. H<strong>and</strong>bag, fabric or leather, white, dress.<br />
