. There are two versions <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Army</strong> white coat that <strong>of</strong>ficer <strong>and</strong> enlisted females may wear. The older version was<br />

designed prior to 10 August 1992 <strong>and</strong> is described in paragraph 19–5b(1), below. The military specification for the<br />

<strong>Army</strong> white coat was changed on 10 August 1992 to the same pattern as the <strong>Army</strong> green coat. The new version is<br />

described in paragraph 19–5b(2), below. Soldiers may continue to wear the older version <strong>of</strong> the coat (with rounded<br />

collars) as long as the uniform is in serviceable condition.<br />

19–2. Composition<br />

The <strong>Army</strong> white uniform comprises the <strong>Army</strong> white coat, skirt, <strong>and</strong> a white short-sleeved shirt with black neck tab.<br />

19–3. Occasions for wear<br />

The following are appropriate occasions for personnel to wear the <strong>Army</strong> white uniform.<br />

a. On duty in all areas, when appropriate <strong>and</strong> authorized by the local comm<strong>and</strong>er.<br />

b. Off duty, for social occasions.<br />

19–4. Materials<br />

The material for this uniform is white polyester <strong>and</strong> texturized woven serge, 6.5–ounce weight.<br />

19–5. Coat, <strong>Army</strong> white<br />

a. Design. The coat will be made from an approved specification or pattern.<br />

b. General description.<br />

(1) Old version. The coat is a single-breasted, four-button, hip-length coat with two slanted front pockets, buttondown<br />

shoulder loops, <strong>and</strong> an easy-fitting open collar <strong>and</strong> lapels.<br />

(2) New version. The coat is a single-breasted, four-button, hip-length coat, with two slanted flap front pockets,<br />

button-down shoulder loops, a notched collar, <strong>and</strong> side-body construction.<br />

c. Coat sleeve ornamentation.<br />

(1) General <strong>of</strong>ficers. The sleeve has a b<strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> white mohair or white mercerized cotton braid 1 1 ⁄2 inches wide sewn<br />

on each sleeve, with the lower edge parallel to, <strong>and</strong> 3 inches above the bottom edge <strong>of</strong> each sleeve.<br />

(2) Other <strong>of</strong>ficers. The sleeve has a b<strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> white mohair or white mercerized cotton braid 1 ⁄2 inch wide sewn on<br />

each sleeve, with the lower edge parallel to, <strong>and</strong> 3 inches above the bottom edge <strong>of</strong> each sleeve.<br />

(3) Enlisted personnel. The sleeve is plain.<br />

19–6. Skirt, <strong>Army</strong> white<br />

a. Design. The skirt will be made from an approved specification or pattern.<br />

b. General description. The skirt is knee length, with a three-piece front <strong>and</strong> three-piece back, slightly flared, with a<br />

waistb<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> a zipper closure on the left side.<br />

19–7. Shirt, white<br />

A short-sleeved white shirt with black neck tab is worn with the <strong>Army</strong> white uniform. (See para 27–22a for a complete<br />

description.)<br />

19–8. Capes, <strong>Army</strong> blue <strong>and</strong> black<br />

As an option, all female <strong>of</strong>ficers are authorized to wear the <strong>Army</strong> blue or the <strong>Army</strong> black cape instead <strong>of</strong> the black allweather<br />

coat, when wearing the <strong>Army</strong> white uniform after duty hours. Enlisted personnel may not wear the cape. (See<br />

paragraph 27–6 for a complete description.)<br />

19–9. Service hat, <strong>Army</strong> white<br />

a. Design. The hat will be made from an approved specification or pattern.<br />

b. General description. The hat has an oval-shaped crown <strong>and</strong> a detachable hatb<strong>and</strong> for placement <strong>of</strong> insignia. Hat<br />

insignia is worn centered <strong>and</strong> secured through the hatb<strong>and</strong>. (See para 28–3 for a description <strong>of</strong> insignia wear.)<br />

c. Hatb<strong>and</strong>. The detachable hatb<strong>and</strong> has three rows <strong>of</strong> stitching <strong>of</strong> matching thread at the top <strong>of</strong> the b<strong>and</strong>, <strong>and</strong><br />

ornamentation as follows.<br />

(1) General <strong>and</strong> field grade <strong>of</strong>ficers. The hat has two arcs <strong>of</strong> laurel leaves grouped in twos, embroidered in gold<br />

bullion, synthetic metallic gold-colored braid, or gold-colored nylon or rayon braid.<br />

(2) Company grade <strong>of</strong>ficers <strong>and</strong> warrant <strong>of</strong>ficers. The hat has a b<strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> 1 ⁄2-inch, two-vellum gold, gold-colored<br />

synthetic metallic braid, or gold-colored nylon or rayon braid, placed on the bottom edge <strong>of</strong> the hatb<strong>and</strong>.<br />

(3) Enlisted personnel. There is no ornamentation on the hatb<strong>and</strong>.<br />

d. <strong>Wear</strong>. All female personnel may wear the <strong>Army</strong> white service hat with the <strong>Army</strong> white uniform. Personnel are<br />
