(2) On the beret, enlisted personnel wear the DUI centered on the organizational flash. Soldiers assigned to units not<br />

authorized a DUI wear the RDI on the beret in the same manner as the DUI.<br />

(3) Soldiers (except chaplains, general <strong>of</strong>ficers, <strong>and</strong> the SMA) wear the DUI centered above the nameplate on the<br />

black pullover sweater, with the top edge <strong>of</strong> the insignia 1 ⁄4 inch below the top edge <strong>of</strong> the patch on the sweater.<br />

Soldiers assigned to units not authorized the DUI wear the RDI on the black pullover sweater in the same manner as<br />

the DUI (see fig 28–139). Chaplains wear their branch insignia, general <strong>of</strong>ficers wear the RDI, <strong>and</strong> the SMA wears the<br />

SMA insignia in the same manner. All soldiers may adjust the placement <strong>of</strong> the DUI or RDI, up or down on the patch,<br />

to allow for large size DUI or RDI, or to adjust to body configuration.<br />

28–23. Regimental distinctive insignia<br />

a. Authorization. Regimental distinctive insignia (RDI) <strong>of</strong> a design approved by the Institute <strong>of</strong> Heraldry, U.S.<br />

<strong>Army</strong>, are authorized <strong>and</strong> prescribed for wear by all soldiers affiliated with a regiment or whole-corps regiment, as<br />

described in AR 600–82 <strong>and</strong> NGR 600–82.<br />

b. How worn.<br />

(1) Males.<br />

(a) On the <strong>Army</strong> green, white, <strong>and</strong> blue uniforms, <strong>and</strong> the AG 415 shirt, males wear the RDI centered 1 ⁄8 inch above<br />

the top <strong>of</strong> the pocket flap, or 1 ⁄4 inch above any unit awards or foreign badges that are worn. When the coat lapel<br />

obscures the insignia, soldiers may wear the RDI aligned to the right edge <strong>of</strong> unit awards or the nameplate. <strong>Wear</strong> <strong>of</strong> the<br />

RDI on the AG 415 shirt is optional (see fig 28–140).<br />
