not required to wear headgear when wearing the <strong>Army</strong> white uniform to evening social functions (after retreat).<br />

However, on all other occasions, personnel will wear headgear with this uniform.<br />

e. Proper wear position. The service hat is worn straight on the head so that the hatb<strong>and</strong> creates a straight line<br />

around the head, parallel to the ground. Hair will not be visible below the front brim <strong>of</strong> the hat, <strong>and</strong> there should be 1 ⁄2<br />

to 1 inch distance between the eyebrow <strong>and</strong> the brim <strong>of</strong> the hat.<br />

a. Accessories.<br />

(2) Capes (<strong>of</strong>ficers only).<br />

(4) Coat, black, all weather (para 27–8).<br />

(a) Black, leather, unisex, dress (only when the black all-weather coat is worn) (para 27–12b).<br />

(b) White, dress (para 27–12c).<br />

(6) H<strong>and</strong>bag, white dress (para 27–13c).<br />

(7) Scarf, black (only with black all-weather coat or windbreaker) (para 27–21a).<br />

29–18).<br />

(14) Foreign badges (para 29–19).<br />

19–11. General guidelines<br />

a. The skirt is worn no longer than 1 inch above, or 2 inches below the crease in the back <strong>of</strong> the knee. The black<br />

all-weather coat is authorized for wear with this uniform. Personnel may wear white gloves with the basic uniform.<br />

Females may carry the white leather h<strong>and</strong>bag during duty or after duty hours; they may carry the white fabric h<strong>and</strong>bag<br />

only after duty hours, however. White pumps <strong>and</strong> sheer stockings are the authorized footwear for this uniform. After<br />

duty hours, personnel may wear white fabric pumps with this uniform.<br />

b. Soldiers who possess the old version <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Army</strong> white coat will wear one branch <strong>and</strong> one U.S. insignia on the<br />

collar. Those who possess the new version <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Army</strong> white coat will wear their insignia as they do on the <strong>Army</strong><br />

green coat (see paras 28–4 <strong>and</strong> 28–12).<br />
