3.1: Piezoelectric Transducers The Definitions: • Nominal frequency (F) - nominal operating frequency of the transducer (usually stamped on housing) • Peak frequency (PF) - the highest frequency response measured from the frequency spectrum • Bandwidth center frequency (BCF) - the average of the lowest and highest points at a -6 dB level of the frequency spectrum • Bandwidth (BW) - the difference between the highest and lowest frequencies at the -6 dB level of the frequency spectrum; also % of BCF or of PF • Pulse width (PW) - the time duration of the time domain envelope that is 20 dB above the rising and decaying cycles of a transducer response
