Description of Program: The office management certificate<br />

prepares you for entry-level employment in the office<br />

workplace as an administrative assistant, secretary, offi ce<br />

specialist, or offi ce clerk. Course content includes, but is<br />

not limited to, accounting principles, keyboarding, offi ce<br />

equipment, and computer applications. Some credits may<br />

PARAMEDIC<br />

COLLEGE CREDIT CERTIFICATE<br />

Program Code: 3042<br />

Description of Program: The college credit certifi cate<br />

in Paramedic trains you to provide emergency, out-ofhospital<br />

care under the direction of an emergency physician.<br />

Paramedics direct and manage patient care aspects of the<br />

emergency response team. The emergency response team<br />

is generally composed of public safety and community<br />

service agency personnel who respond to traffi c accidents,<br />

fires, explosions, and other life-threatening situations.<br />

The Paramedic Program includes a three-term sequence<br />

of lecture, lab, hospital clinical and emergency medical<br />

services clinical courses and instruction. Instruction includes<br />

patient airway management, patient assessment, trauma<br />

emergencies, medical emergencies, assessment-based<br />

management, and ambulance operations. Credits will<br />

articulate directly toward the A.A.S. degree in Emergency<br />

Medical Services (Program #2260).<br />

You must have current state of <strong>Florida</strong> certification<br />

as an Emergency Medical Technician or have<br />

completed the Emergency Medical Technician<br />

course from a state of <strong>Florida</strong> approved EMS<br />

training center. <strong>State</strong> of <strong>Florida</strong> certification is<br />

required prior to starting the second term of the<br />

Paramedic program. This is a limited access<br />

program; you must obtain authorization from<br />

the Emergency Medical Services Program<br />

Chairperson prior to registering for all or part of<br />

this program. Preference for admission will be<br />

given according to experience as an Emergency<br />

Medical Technician and educational achievement.<br />

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS<br />

The following entrance criteria must be fulfilled and submitted<br />

to the EMS Training Center a minimum of one month prior to<br />

the scheduled class start date:<br />

I. Physical examination. Have the college approved<br />

physical exam form completed and returned.<br />

EMS Programs immunization and health history forms<br />

completed and negative fi nding on a Tuberculosis<br />

skin test (or negative finding on chest X-Ray) returned<br />

to the EMS Programs Office.<br />

In addition, if you are admitted to the program, you are<br />

required to sign the following documents:<br />

A. <strong>State</strong>ment to the effect that, to the best of your<br />

knowledge, you do not have any physical and/<br />

or mental condition that would interfere with your<br />

ability to perform the required EMT responsibility.<br />

B. Compliance Agreements. This is required to ensure<br />

that you are informed of the rights to which you<br />

are entitled according to standard college policy<br />

as well as program policies.<br />

C. Rescue/Injury Release form. This form is required<br />

to ensure that you are aware and have been<br />

informed that the clinical portion may result in your<br />

injury, death, or illness.<br />

D. Immunization declination form(s), if required immunizations<br />

have not been completed.<br />

REGISTRATION PROCESS<br />

1. Completed packets are date stamped upon receipt and<br />

a priority number is issued to your application based on<br />

the date the packet is received as well as preference<br />

as noted above.<br />
