hands-on experience in spreadsheet, database, presentation<br />
preparation, and software integration through using Microsoft<br />

This course is an introduction to the concepts of word<br />
processing in the modern offi ce and includes discussion of<br />
theory, terms, and the total word processing environment.<br />
The course includes instruction and guidance in: creating and<br />
editing documents, using the spell checker and thesaurus,<br />
formatting documents, text enhancements, and merging<br />
documents with an introduction to Web page creation and<br />
desktop publishing. Prerequisite: OTA 0101 or Instructor’s<br />

OCB 1000 INTRODUCTION TO MARINE BIOLOGY<br />
3 cr. hrs.<br />
An introductory study of the oceans and the life that exists<br />
therein. Topics include the history of marine science, the<br />
physical nature of the oceans, marine plants, invertebrates,<br />
fi sh, reptiles, birds, mammals, tides, estuaries, continental<br />
shelf, coral reefs, ocean depths, resources from the sea, and<br />

An optional lab that may be taken in addition to OCB 1000<br />
Introduction to Marine Biology. Representative marine<br />
organisms will be studied as well as various physical<br />
characteristics of the oceans and their ecosystems. Pre- or<br />

OCB 1103L MARINE BIOLOGY FIELD STUDY<br />
1-4 cr. hrs.<br />
A 3-15 day field trip to the <strong>Florida</strong> Keys region to study marine<br />
biology. You will study coral reef, sea grass, and mangrove<br />
communities. Methods of investigation typically include<br />
snorkeling, wading, canoeing, and laboratory analysis.<br />
This is an optional lab component to OCB 1000 course. It<br />
may be taken with or without taking OCB 1000. Lab fee will<br />
vary each term depending on length of fi eld trip, housing<br />
accommodations, equipment rentals, and transportation. This<br />
course, when used in combination with OCB 1000, fulfills the<br />
lab science portion of the General Education Requirement.<br />
