Identify oral mucosal disease including malignant <strong>and</strong> potentially malignant conditions <strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> manage/refer when<br />

Protect the confidentiality of all personal information<br />

Carry out a comprehensive <strong>and</strong> appropriate patient assessment to develop a rational differential diagnosis, definitive<br />

B 3 diagnosis <strong>and</strong> prioritised treatment plan, including refering patients where appropriate<br />

Obtain valid informed consent for the proposed treatment from the patient / parent / guardian as appropriate (FC)<br />

B 4<br />

Recognise <strong>and</strong> manage medical <strong>and</strong> dental emergencies<br />

B 5<br />

Recognise the signs of abuse or neglect <strong>and</strong> describe local <strong>and</strong> national systems <strong>and</strong>, where necessary implement,<br />

Describe the aetiology <strong>and</strong> pathogenesis of diseases of the oral <strong>and</strong> maxillofacial complex <strong>and</strong> appropriately manage<br />

Underst<strong>and</strong> the principles of <strong>and</strong> practice comprehensive preventative dentistry so as to contribute to the patients<br />

long term oral <strong>and</strong> general health<br />

Underpin all patient care with a preventive approach that contributes to the patient’s long term oral <strong>and</strong> general<br />

B 9 health<br />

Have knowledge of simple oral surgical procedures <strong>and</strong> demonstrate extraction of erupted teeth <strong>and</strong> roots in all age<br />

B 10 groups <strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> appropriately manage unerupted teeth <strong>and</strong> roots.<br />

Assess <strong>and</strong> manage caries, occlusion, <strong>and</strong> toothwear, <strong>and</strong>, where appropriate, restore <strong>and</strong> replace the dentition using<br />

B 11 a range of appropriate treatments <strong>and</strong> materials whilst utilising the principle of minimal intervention (LDS)<br />

Assess <strong>and</strong> appropriately manage the health of the dental pulp <strong>and</strong> periradicular tissues, including surgical & non<br />

B 12 surgical treatments in all ages<br />

Manage patient's with anxiety <strong>and</strong> pain appropriately, effectively <strong>and</strong> safely, including utilisation of sedation or<br />

B 13 general anaesthesia when indicated, giving patients full inofrmation relating to these treatment options<br />
