7.6<br />

A student registered for the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws who decides not to enter examinations at the first<br />

available examination session after registration is permitted to attempt a minimum of one module <strong>and</strong> a<br />

maximum of 10 modules at all subsequent examination sessions.<br />

7.7<br />

A student registered for the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws is not permitted to attempt more than two double<br />

modules at any one examination sitting.<br />

Postgraduate Certificate in Laws<br />

7.8<br />

A student registered for the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws is permitted to attempt a minimum of one module<br />

<strong>and</strong> a maximum of five modules at any examinations session.<br />

7.9<br />

A student registered for the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws is not permitted to attempt more than two double<br />

modules at any one examination sitting.<br />

The sequence of assessment of modules<br />

7.10<br />

Each course consists of four modules. A student may enter for the examination of modules in any order apart<br />

from the requirements set out below.<br />

7.11<br />

Whether attempting all four modules of a course at the same examination session or over more than one<br />

examination session, a student must follow the sequence specified under the individual course/module<br />

syllabuses in Appendix A.<br />

Additional advice on the previous knowledge or underst<strong>and</strong>ing a student is expected to have in order to<br />

undertake a particular course/module is given in the syllabuses in Appendix A.<br />

Progression between the Postgraduate Certificate <strong>and</strong> the Postgraduate Diploma in<br />

Laws<br />

7.12 (GR)<br />

There is no automatic progression between the Postgraduate Certificate <strong>and</strong> the Postgraduate Diploma.<br />

Satisfactory completion of the Postgraduate Certificate does not in itself guarantee entry to the Postgraduate<br />

Diploma. In order to proceed to the Postgraduate Diploma, a student registered must normally successfully<br />

complete all the prescribed certificate subjects at the required level <strong>and</strong> receive a recommendation from the<br />

Examiners that they may proceed.<br />

However, students registered for the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws should refer to 7.13<br />

7.13<br />

A student registered for the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws shall automatically progress to Postgraduate<br />

Diploma in Laws, provided that:<br />

they have already satisfied the entrance requirements for the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws, as<br />

appropriate<br />

Or<br />

they have successfully completed the requirements for the programme of study for which they are<br />

registered.<br />

7.14<br />

A student who progresses to the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws will be required to achieve an average of 50%<br />

in any course completed in full following progression.<br />

7.15 (GR)<br />

A student who is allowed to progress from the Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma may be<br />

credited with the modules successfully passed.<br />
