To progress from the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws to the LLM or the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws to<br />

the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws, a student must:<br />

or<br />

<br />

have already satisfied the entrance requirements for the LLM or Postgraduate Diploma in Laws (as<br />

appropriate)<br />

have successfully completed the requirements for the programme of study for which they are<br />

registered.<br />

Students who progress to the LLM or Postgraduate Diploma in Laws will be required to achieve an average of<br />

50% in any course completed in full following progression.<br />

Credit value of modules<br />

Where credits are assigned to modules of a programme, credit indicates the amount of learning undertaken,<br />

<strong>and</strong> a specified credit level indicates the relative depth of learning involved.<br />

The credit value indicates the amount of learning in terms of notional study hours, <strong>and</strong> the level of learning in<br />

terms of depth, complexity <strong>and</strong> intellectual dem<strong>and</strong>.<br />

For the Postgraduate Laws programme, credits are assigned to the modules as follows:<br />

European Credit Transfer System (ECTS)<br />

In terms of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS):<br />

A module is the equivalent of 6 ECTS credits.<br />

A double module is the equivalent of 12 ECTS credits.<br />

A course is the equivalent of 24 ECTS credits.<br />

Upon successful completion, the LLM, the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws <strong>and</strong> the Postgraduate Certificate in<br />

Laws are equivalent to the following ECTS credits:<br />

LLM degree – 96 ECTS credits<br />

Postgraduate Diploma in Laws – 60 ECTS credits<br />

Postgraduate Certificate in Laws – 30 ECTS credits<br />

Students with specific access arrangements should refer to section 12 of the Detailed Regulations.<br />

An applicant must satisfy the relevant entrance requirements given in this section. In order to be considered<br />

for admission as an International Programmes student, applicants must also submit an application that is in<br />

accordance with the procedures <strong>and</strong> deadlines set out in the appropriate prospectus.<br />

For the LLM applicants are required to have at least one of the following:<br />

Obtained the LLB of the University of London with at least Second Class Honours (excepting that a<br />

c<strong>and</strong>idate who obtained the LLB Pass degree before 1969 may make a special application)<br />
