made satisfactory payment to the University of all due fees <strong>and</strong> accounts.<br />

The University reserves the right not to grant the award to a student who fails to satisfy any of these<br />

conditions.<br />

Applying for awards<br />

9.7<br />

The Postgraduate Diploma in Laws <strong>and</strong> the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws will not be awarded<br />

automatically except for students, whose registration has been terminated or has expired. Any registered<br />

student who satisfies the necessary requirements <strong>and</strong> wishes to receive the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws or<br />

the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws, must apply to be granted those awards.<br />

9.8<br />

A student may apply for an award:<br />

Either<br />

at the point they make an examination entry for examinations that, if successfully completed, would<br />

qualify them for the award<br />

Or<br />

after they have satisfied the requirements for the award but before they make their final examination<br />

entry for the Postgraduate Laws Programme.<br />

9.9<br />

A student who does not request the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws or the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws at,<br />

or prior to, their final examination entry for the Postgraduate Laws Programme will not be awarded these<br />

awards at a later date, except in the circumstances of paragraphs 9.11 <strong>and</strong> 9.12.<br />

9.10<br />

An intermediate award or awards (i.e. a related certificate or diploma) may be granted to a student registered<br />

for the LLM or Postgraduate Diploma in Laws in the following circumstances:<br />

At the discretion of the Board of Examiners, a student who does not complete the programme of study<br />

or who does not satisfy the Examiners (at the level required for the award) in all subjects may be<br />

considered for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws or the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws<br />

(as appropriate). Such students will be required to have satisfied the Examiners (at the level required<br />

for the award concerned) in the subjects that comprise the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws or the<br />

Postgraduate Certificate in Laws.<br />

At the discretion of the University, a student may be considered for the award of the Postgraduate<br />

Diploma in Laws or the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws, provided that they have satisfied in full the<br />

requirements for the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws or the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws.<br />

The award of the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws or the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws will be with effect<br />

from the year in which the student satisfied the requirements for that award.<br />

A student whose registration has been terminated or has expired<br />

9.11<br />

A student whose registration has been terminated because they have exhausted the permitted number of<br />

attempts <strong>and</strong> who has satisfied the requirements for the Postgraduate Certificate in Laws <strong>and</strong>/or Postgraduate<br />

Diploma in Laws must apply to receive those awards by:<br />

1 November following the examinations for students who sat their examinations in May<br />

1 May following the examinations for students who sat their examinations in October.<br />

A student who fails to apply by these dates will be awarded the relevant intermediate awards automatically<br />

<strong>and</strong> without specialisation.<br />
