7.16<br />

Notwithst<strong>and</strong>ing Regulation 7.15, a student who progresses from the Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate<br />

Diploma will be credited with the modules successfully passed.<br />

7.17 (GR)<br />

Previous attempts at the examinations for the Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma will count<br />

towards the number of attempts permitted at modules of the degree.<br />

Progression between the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws <strong>and</strong> the LLM degree<br />

7.18 (GR)<br />

There is no automatic progression between the Postgraduate Diploma <strong>and</strong> the LLM degree. Satisfactory<br />

completion of the Postgraduate Diploma does not in itself guarantee entry to the degree. In order to proceed<br />

to the LLM degree, a student registered must normally successfully complete all the prescribed diploma<br />

subjects at the required level <strong>and</strong> receive a recommendation from the Examiners that they may proceed.<br />

Students registered for the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws should refer to 7.19<br />

7.19<br />

A student registered for the Postgraduate Diploma in Laws shall automatically progress to the LLM, provided<br />

that:<br />

they have already satisfied the entrance requirements for the LLM<br />

Or<br />

they have successfully completed the requirements for the programme of study for which they are<br />

registered.<br />

7.20<br />

A student who progresses to the LLM will be required to achieve an average of 50% in any course completed<br />

in full following progression.<br />

A student who progresses from the Postgraduate Diploma to the degree will be credited with 10 modules.<br />

Progression from an individual module<br />

7.23 (GR)<br />

Successful completion by formal assessment of an individual module or modules may be taken into account<br />

for admission to a related or unrelated certificate, diploma or degree. Credit for that individual module(s) may<br />

also be considered provided that application is made within three years of the completion of the relevant<br />

module or modules. Neither admission nor credit is automatic.<br />

A student who does not successfully complete the formal assessment for an individual module will be<br />

permitted to proceed to a certificate, diploma or degree provided they satisfy the entrance requirements for<br />

All applications for progression from an individual module to a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma<br />

or LLM degree will be considered on an individual basis <strong>and</strong> permission to progress, <strong>and</strong>, where appropriate,<br />

to receive credit, will be at the discretion of the University.<br />
