lifetime is, <strong>the</strong>refore, <strong>the</strong> average time between purchase <strong>of</strong> EEE and generation <strong>of</strong> WEEE<br />

when <strong>the</strong> EEE is discarded by its last user.<br />

2.4.1.3. Overview <strong>of</strong> possible methods to estimate <strong>the</strong> WEEE generation<br />

Different methods can be used to estimate <strong>the</strong> generation <strong>of</strong> sWEEE, using data on volumes<br />

<strong>of</strong> sold EEE, stocks <strong>of</strong> EEE by <strong>the</strong> users, average lifetime <strong>of</strong> EEE and o<strong>the</strong>r data on <strong>the</strong><br />

behaviour <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> users regarding discard <strong>of</strong> WEEE. Table 6 shows an overview <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se<br />

methods. Table 6 also presents <strong>the</strong> formula and <strong>the</strong> data required to apply <strong>the</strong>m, <strong>the</strong><br />

suitability <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> methods for saturated and dynamic markets, and a rough assessment <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>ir accuracy.<br />
