Selfcalibrating 3-D optical metrology
3-D imaging system has been developed that uses an interferometric technique to obtain range and profile information. The
system is self-calibrating, once knowledge of the camera and projector are known, and can handle discontinuities. An
improvement to the current system is proposed that would allow it to operate without a piezo stepper, allowing a significant
mass saving. The objective of this work is to breadboard and test the new design. This follows from a concept studied under
fast-track SME TRP initiative. Deliverables: Design, build and test of a self-calibrating, 3-D vision system breadboard. Analysis
of system limitations as regards spatial and temporal resolution, field of view etc.
