value added partnerships, alliances, supplier networks). New knowledge circulates<br />

through companies <strong>in</strong> the same networks very quickly. The highlyregarded<br />

kaizen concept, the manufactur<strong>in</strong>g leadership philosophy which still rema<strong>in</strong>s<br />

valid even under the currently prevail<strong>in</strong>g low growth conditions, has proven<br />

to be an effective method for learn<strong>in</strong>g particularly <strong>in</strong> the area <strong>of</strong> production <strong>and</strong><br />

enables progress <strong>in</strong> a comb<strong>in</strong>ation <strong>of</strong> <strong>in</strong>dividual, organizational <strong>and</strong> <strong>in</strong>terorganizational<br />

learn<strong>in</strong>g.<br />

Toyota production system <strong>and</strong> his philosophy is associated with specific forms<br />

<strong>of</strong> work organization (for example, group work, team organization), <strong>of</strong> logistics<br />

<strong>and</strong> quality (for example, just-<strong>in</strong>-time, kanban, quality circles), <strong>of</strong> manufactur<strong>in</strong>g<br />

processes (high-tech manufactur<strong>in</strong>g systems, NC <strong>and</strong> CNC systems, autonomation),<br />

<strong>of</strong> personnel deployment (for example, job rotation) <strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> education. Its<br />

ma<strong>in</strong> characteristic overall is that it has been strongly molded by step by step<br />

learn<strong>in</strong>g <strong>and</strong> is expressed <strong>in</strong> the philosophy <strong>of</strong> cont<strong>in</strong>uous improvement. The challenge<br />

for Toyota <strong>in</strong> the frame <strong>of</strong> rapid <strong>in</strong>ternationalization is to cont<strong>in</strong>ue this successful<br />

way <strong>of</strong> do<strong>in</strong>g bus<strong>in</strong>ess worldwide. The manager <strong>and</strong> the worker <strong>in</strong> various<br />

Toyota plants <strong>and</strong> numerous nation <strong>and</strong> different cultures have to underst<strong>and</strong> the<br />

“Toyota Way”, which based on the ma<strong>in</strong> pr<strong>in</strong>ciple “kaizen”.<br />
