B.C. in Nepal. He was born into a royal family, but he<br />

stopped being a prince when he saw the life of his<br />

people He be came a homeless holy man known as the<br />

Buddha or “awakened <strong>on</strong>e”. Statues of Buddha include<br />

a lot of symbols. Buddha is often seen with a round<br />

mark <strong>on</strong> his forehead which is his third eye (a symbol<br />

to show that he can see things ordinary people cannot<br />

see). Buddhists worship at home or at a temple. Buddhists try to teach how to reach<br />

Nirvana, the most enlight ened state <strong>on</strong>e can achieve, a state with out suffering, by<br />

following the Buddha’s teaching and by meditating. Meditati<strong>on</strong> means training the<br />

mind to empty it of all thoughts. When this happens what is important comes clear.<br />
