Ենթակա-ստորոգյալ շարադասությունը փոփոխության է ենթարկվում միայն հարցական
նախադասություններում: Անուղղակի հարցում այն դառնում է ուղիղ:
1. Անուղղակի ընդհանուր հարցը կապակցվում է
գլխավոր նախադասությանը if կամ whether
շաղկապով:
2. Անուղղակի հատուկ հարցը կապակցվում է այն
դերանունով կամ մակբայով, որով սկսվում է
ուղղակի հարցը:
He said, “Do you know Bill?”
He asked if (whether) I knew Bill.
“Did you see this film?” she asked him.
She asked him if (whether) he had seen that film.
She asked, “Where were you yesterday?”
She asked where I had been the day before.
He said, “Where is the post-office?”
He asked where the post-office was.
