6. facilitating scaled-up private investment in alternative livelihoodsfor forest dependent communities that over time generate their ownvalue;7. reinforcing ongoing efforts towards conservation and sustainable useof forests; and8. improving forest law enforcement and governance, includingforest laws and policy, land tenure administration, monitoring andverification capability, and transparency and accountability.b. To pilot replicable models to generate understanding and learning ofthe links between the implementation of forest-related investments,policies and measures and long-term emission reductions andconservation, sustainable management of forests and the enhancementof forest carbon stocks in developing countries. By committing to applya priori and ex post impact assessment of programs and projects, theFIP will ensure that the outcomes and effectiveness of FIP-supportedinterventions in reducing deforestation and forest degradation can bemeasured;c. To facilitate the leveraging of additional financial resources for REDDleading to an effective and sustained reduction of deforestation andforest degradation, thereby enhancing the sustainable management offorests; andd. To provide valuable experience and feedback in the context of theUNFCCC deliberations on REDD.-Para 10, FIP Draft Design Document, 2 July 2009the May meeting of the FIP governing body, no agreement was met onthe insertion of FPIC as a guiding principle.A working group was, therefore, set up to find a compromise solution.Nevertheless, the draft design document, in its last version of 2 July2009, incorporated provisions to support involvement of indigenouspeoples. As many as 4 representatives of indigenous peoples would beinvited as active observers in the FIP Sub-Committee meetings.• The Draft Design Document 18 of 2 July 2009 set out the principles whichit will apply.
