Hadīth of Hazrat ‘Alī ra and Lā Nabiyya Ba‘adī 113بدی the Mount. It is to be noted that the word[ba‘adī] here means ری [ghairī: besides me]. Itdoes not mean after me in time. As we say thatin:فَمَنْ‏ يهَّْدِيْهِ‏ ۢ مِنْ‏ بَعْدِ‏ ٰ اهللّ‏ ِ ؕ(Who, then, will guide him other thanAllāh? 103 ). aاالله بد [ba‘d-Allāh] means other thanAllāh.He further states in the same book:Here the word بدی [ba’adī] is not in the contextof ازa بدت [after his time] because HazratHārūn as did not outlive Hazrat Mūsā as . Hence,the implied conclusion was not for a periodafter the Holy Prophet sa for Hazrat ‘Alī ra . As aresult, there was no reason to make theexception of a period after the Holy Prophet safor Hazrat ‘Alī ra .Farhan Khan is more than welcome to disagree with thereformer of the 12 th century. It is up to him. The argument givenby Hazrat Shāh Waliullāh Mohaddes Dehlavī is irrefutable. Theword ba‘ad can only mean beside in this context because HazratHārun as died during the lifetime of Hazrat Mūsā as and was aprophet beside him, as his helper.
