Nothing has remained of Prophethood except Mubashirāt 127not be deprived of his beneficence. In other words, it is throughthe spiritual grace and beneficence of the Holy Prophet sa that amuslim, a mu’min or a sālih sees true dreams.To understand this better, we must turn <strong>to</strong> the HolyQur’an. In the terminology of the Holy Qur’ān, a sālih is thatperson who is rewarded and in the group of those people whoare rewarded, a sālih is at the first stage. When we look at theummah of the Holy Prophet sa , the large majority is made up ofthe sālihīn [the righteous]. When the Holy Prophet sa uses thewords, dream of a muslim or a dream of a mu’min or a dream that arighteous person is shown, it means that true dreams will continue<strong>to</strong> be experienced by the large majority of the Muslims.However, those who are at higher levels or stages, namely, theshuhadā’ [witnesses], the siddīqīn [truthful], and the nabiyyīn[prophets], among the disciples of the Holy Prophet sa , were notunder discussion in this particular hadīth.In this sense, the Holy Prophet sa did not deprive thegenerally pious followers of his ummah from that part ofprophethood which is the 46 th – the ru’yā sāliha [true dream]. Onthe other hand, the greater stages achievable through thespiritual beneficence of the Holy Prophet sa are also clearlyevident from the extraordinary aspects of al-mubashirāt and arru’yāsāliha. This is better unders<strong>to</strong>od when one studies thefollowing verse of Sūrah An-Nisā’:ِٕ ٰ اهللّ‏ َ وَالرَّسُ‏ وْلَ‏ فَاُولٰ‏ ٓ ى كَ‏ مَعَ‏ اذلَّ‏ ‏ِيْنَ‏ اَنْعَمَ‏ ٰ اهللّ‏ ُ عَلَيهْ‏ ‏ِمْ‏ مّ‏ ‏ِنَ‏وَمَنْ‏ يُّطِ‏ عِ‏النَّبِينّ‏ َ وَالصِّ‏ دِّيْقِينْ‏ َ وَالشُّ‏ هَدَآءِ‏ وَالصّ‏ ۚ وَحَسُ‏ نَ‏ اُولٰ‏ ٓ ى كَ‏ رَفِيْقًا‎۝ؕ‎ِٰٕٖ لِحِينْ‏ َAnd whoso obeys Allāh and this Messenger of Hisshall be among those on whom Allāh has bes<strong>to</strong>wedHis blessings, namely, the Prophets, the Truthful, the
