58 With Love to Muhammad sa the Khātam-un-NabiyyīnIslām. Before refuting his false accusations it is important toread from the original sources which Farhan Khan was supposedto be quoting from in the beginning of his chapter. One may ask:Why did he not include the original quotations in his book? Afterreading these quotations, the readers will not only have theanswer to this question but also see his real face. The first quotation is from the book Revelation,Rationality, Knowledge and Truth:The Rationale of FinalityThe finality of any Prophet can be observed withreference to his message as well as with reference tohis status. It is possible for a Prophet to be final in hismessage and his status, yet it is also possible foranother lesser Prophet to come after him withoutviolating his finality. It is this aspect of prophethoodthat we are going to thoroughly examine now.The belief in the finality of the Qur’ānic law and inthe finality of the Prophet sa to whom this law wasrevealed, is unanimously held by all Muslims. TheQur’ān—a complete code of life—claims for itself apromise of eternal Divine protection frominterpolation by human hands. If this claim is right,as the Muslims believe and demonstrate it to be, thebearer of such a book must be accepted as the lastlaw-bearing Prophet. This is clearly understandableand is so endorsed by the entire world of Islāmwithout exception. But from the non-Muslim vantagepoint, it is difficult to comprehend how any Bookcould fulfil the needs of all ages and defy therequirements for change during the times to come.
