The word Nabī only refers to one whoreceives revelations from God and is granted thehonour of converse and communication with Him. 126 With Love to Muhammad sa the Khātam-un-Nabiyyīnconverse, but he who is a recipient of divinerevelation in abundance and hidden matters arerevealed to him plentifully, is called a prophet. 120The fact of the matter is that this was also the faith of otherAwliyā’ Allāh [Friends of Allāh]. Other saints have supported thisconcept and one of them is ‘Abd-ul-Wahāb Shi‘rānī who says,“Let it be known that the order of prophethood has not totallyceased; it is indeed only the law-bearing prophethood whichhas discontinued. The statement of the Holy Prophet sa :لاaبaبدیaوaلاaرولaبدیmeans that after him there shall be no law-bearing prophet”. 121Al-Muslim, Al-Mu’min and As-SālihOne question that one might still have could be: Did theHoly Prophet sa not specify the meaning of mubashirāt inresponse to the question of the sahāba ra ? It is true that, inresponse to their question, “What are mubashirāt?”, the HolyProphet sa replied, “True dreams” or “The dream of a Muslim”or “The dream of a mu’min” or more clearly “The true dreamwhich a sālih [righteous] man sees or it is shown to him”. Thefact of the matter is that the Holy Prophet sa actually gave theummah glad tidings in this hadīth that there shall be those in hisummah – al-muslim, al-mu’min, and as-sālih – who shall be therecipients of mubashirāt [glad tidings].
