ۤContinuation of Prophethood according to the Holy Qur’ān 265Sūrah Al-‘Arāf, 7:36ۤ اٰدَمَ‏ اِمَّا ايَ‏ ‏ْتِيَنَّكمُ‏ ْ رُسُ‏ لٌ‏ مّ‏ ‏ِنْكمُ‏ ْ يَقُصُّ‏ وْ‏ نَ‏ عَلَيْكمُ‏ ْ اٰيٰتىِ‏ ْ ۙ فَمَنِ‏ اتَّقٰىوَاَصْ‏ لَحَ‏ فَلاَ‏ خَوْفٌ‏ عَلَيهْ‏ ‏ِمْ‏ وَلاَ‏ همُ‏ ْ يحَ‏ ‏ْزَنُوْ‏ ‏َن‎۝‎يٰبَنىِ‏ ْO children of Adam! If messengers come to you fromamong yourselves, rehearsing My Signs unto you, then whoso shall fear God and do good deeds, onthem shall come no fear nor shall they grieve.Refuting Farhan Khan’s ArgumentIn his chapter on Sūrah Al-‘Arāf, verse 36, Farhan Khanmakes another failed attempt to refute the Ahmadiyya Muslimunderstanding of a verse which clearly supports thecontinuation of prophethood. His only response is, “It isreferring to previous nations. This is clear upon further analysisof both the context of the verse and the language Allāh uses toaddress humanity... one must look at the verses before and theverses after this one to understand its context...” 260In other words, according to Farhan Khan, wherever “(O Children of Adam) has been mentioned before and after ‏”اٰدَمَ‏verse 36 in Sūrah Al-A‘rāf, it is only applicable to previousnations, not the Muslims. Let us take a look at verse 27 of SūrahAl-A‘rāf to see whether Farhan Khan’s claim makes any sense.Allāh, the Exalted, says:يٰ‏ بَنىِ‏ ْ260Khan, With Love, Page 54
