Continuation of Prophethood according <strong>to</strong> the Holy Qur’ān 261Allāh has decreed: ‘Most surely I will prevail, I andMy messengers.’ Verily, Allāh is Powerful, Mighty. 258All that is decreed for the opposition of Hazrat Mirzā GhulāmAhmad as , a messenger of Allāh, is despair, misery, andhumiliating defeat.The fifth problem with Farhan Khan’s arguments is that hequotes the following hadīth in support of his points:I heard Allāh’s Apostle sa saying, “No prophet getssick but he is given the choice <strong>to</strong> select either thisworld or the Hereafter.”Ayesha ra added, “During hisfatal illness, his voice became very husky and I heardhim saying, ‘In the company of those whom is theGrace of Allāh, of the prophets, the siddīqīn, themartyrs, and the pious’ (4.69). And from this, I came<strong>to</strong> know that he had been given the option.”From the above hadīth, Farhan Khan concludes that 4:70 isabsolutely about the next life and it cannot possibly be aboutthis life. However, the reality is that this hadīth, itself,categorically rejects his desired meaning. One should ask thissimple question: When the Holy Prophet sa recited this verse, washe a prophet at that time or not? If Farhan Khan’s meaning isapplied, it would mean that the Holy Prophet sa was not aprophet in this life but was only hoping <strong>to</strong> be with the prophetsin the next life ( ). No Muslim in the world, whotruly loves the Holy Prophet sa , will accept his meaning. FarhanKhan should have put some thought in<strong>to</strong> this.
