The <strong>eSafety</strong> partners have also agreed on a Road Map for eCall roll-out. The main milestonesare the following:• Agreeing on eCall roll-out plan, business model and standards by the end of 2005• Full specification of the in-vehicle eCall system and start of development by mid-2006• Full-scale field tests with early adopters in 2007• Introduction of eCall as standard equipment in all vehicles entering the market afterSeptember 2009To enable eCall technology to work, the emergency services in the EU Member States willneed to equip or upgrade their PSAPs to process eCall location reports at the latest by theend of 2007.The remaining issues related to the roll-out of pan-European eCall by 2009 include:• Speeding up Member State signatories• Equipping or upgrading the PSAPs to process eCall location reports (at the latest bythe end of 2007)• Agreeing on the specifications of the in-vehicle system• Agreeing on the eCall business model• Organizing the field testsPage 221 of 490
