The following recommendations were given for in-vehicle systems:a. The automobile industry, European Commission, the Member States and otherstakeholders should enhance the customer awareness of the safety benefits ofsuch systems in vehicles through well structured and harmonized Europeancampaignsb. The Member States and insurance companies should give financial/fiscalincentives to customers to buy vehicles equipped with such systems. For thispurpose, the discussion should start without further delay to clarify the possibilityfor incentives given by insurance companies or public agencies.c. All stakeholders should develop feasible sustainable business models for eachapplication on the principle that those who benefit from the introduction shouldshare their benefits with those who have to carry the investments and costs.These should also cover nomadic devices.Recommendations for autonomous vehicle systems:In order to increase and accelerate the market penetration of <strong>eSafety</strong> systems with highest safetybenefits, such as ESP,d. EuroNCAP should incorporate such systems into their rating as soon as proventechnology and safety benefit data becomes available, and the functionality of thesystems can be adequately tested. ESP and Speed Limiter are on the list today.e. The European Commission and the Member States should consider regulatoryactions (such as making a system mandatory equipment in new vehicles) only as alast option, when such action is judged as essential and beneficial for bothindustrial and public stakeholders. Socio-economic reasons and respecting theprinciple of subsidiarity are other important decision criteria. Voluntary solutionsshould be favoured.f. The Member States and the industry should follow the recommendations of theHMI (Human Machine Interaction) working group to ensure future useracceptance and a safe application and function of the systems during their wholelifecycleg. The automobile industry, European Commission, the Member States and otherstakeholders should continue R&D efforts to develop new technologies andsolutions for in-vehicle safety systems as well as to evaluate the effects of <strong>eSafety</strong>system on safety, economy and employment.Recommendations for infrastructure-related systems:In order to increase and accelerate the deployment of safety beneficial infrastructure-related<strong>eSafety</strong> systems,h.
