The contextThe Road Map working group was one of the later established groups to provide acombined strategic approach for the <strong>eSafety</strong> Forum. The Forum is a joint platformfor all road safety stakeholders to promote and monitor the implementation of therecommendations identified and presented to the High Level Group.2. ConstitutionThe Road Map working group was established in July 2003, for a period ofapproximately two years.The group is chaired by representatives from VTT and DEKRA, and it is open to anystakeholder with an interest and expertise to contribute to the work of the group.The work is on a voluntary basis and does not commit group members to anyparticular view or course of action. Decisions and recommendation will be arrived atby consensus.3. Objectives and ScopeThe Road Map working group has decided to focus on• Global Matrix of <strong>eSafety</strong> Systems• Technical availability• HLG recommendations.The working group has members from industry, national authorities, researchinstitutions, the Commission and user groups. It aims to reach consensus amongstthese stakeholders on the critical questions.The group aims to reach specific detailed recommendations on the implementationsteps within a two year period.The group cannot undertake the detailed research and analytical work necessary but itwill monitor progress in the development / fulfilment of Road Map at a EU level.Page 420 of 490
