Traffic information:The provision of dynamic traffic and traffic-related information to drivers via either“collective” means (e.g. VMS) or individual in-vehicle terminals. In contrast to travelinformation, traffic information is generally characterised by shorter temporal andgeographical spans, provided to drivers in the course of a trip.Traffic management:The combination of semi-automated control of traffic signs and signals, application ofdemand management techniques, and traffic information and advisories to achieve anoptimal traffic flow throughout a defined management area (both urban and inter-urban).Traffic monitoring:Observation of traffic conditions on the road network by Closed Circuit Television(CCTV), or by automatic means.Traffic signs recognition:Prescribed speed limits can often change during the course of travel along a road, and theroad signs are not always easy to follow. The system will offer a new quality of comfortand safety in this area. The system incorporates a digital display, which informs the driverof all the respectively applicable road signs along the motorway.UCC (Unified Chassis Control):Through software enhancements or by integrating two or more of these active chassissubsystems, the vehicle is able to respond better and more predictably to emergencysituations. This is all achieved through communication. The subsystems “talk” to eachother electronically — sharing real-time information.
