While left-hand doors reduce EmX vehicle seating, the design allowsmuch greater station design flexibility, particularly in areas with limitedspace. Combined with some sections of exclusive, single bus lanes thatare used in both directions, a number of EmX stations were built withonly one boarding platform but are served both eastbound andwestbound. See Figure 4.3; note “Bus Only” pavement markings inboth directions (that <strong>to</strong> right is oriented westbound).
