II 1SE 431 Adaptive Teaching (K-8) II 1Section 3 – Procedural IssuesQualified candidates have opportunities to accelerate through <strong>PACE</strong> by petitioning program andcourse requirements and challenging courses. Successful petitioning and challenging requiresdocumented life experience and demonstrated teaching skills.PetitioningCandidates may petition a specific program requirement or a requirement of a course. Asuccessful petition must document equivalent course work and/or relevant life experiences.Candidates should secure <strong>Education</strong> <strong>Division</strong> Petition forms in the <strong>Division</strong> Office or on line athttp://edudiv.lcsc.edu/forms. The form should be completed and submitted with supportingmaterial to the <strong>PACE</strong> coordinator who will route it to the appropriate individuals who have toapprove or deny the petition. The <strong>Division</strong> will inform the candidate in writing of the status ofthe petition. There is no fee to submit a <strong>Division</strong> of <strong>Education</strong> petition.A candidate who has recent teaching experience might consider petitioning to have the 20 hourpracticum component of ED 214 or ED 310 Professional Foundations of Teaching waived.14
