The smooth option works by lighteningthe darker side of contrast boundaries and darkening the lighter side. Because theSmooth option removes the high frequency details from an image, some fine imagedetail is also lost.To smooth the appearance of an image, follow these steps:1. From the Edit menu, select Filter > Smooth.To preview images on the thumbnail image only; deselect the Modify MainImage box.2. Either use the slider bar to select a Strength value between one and 100, orenter the value in the box.3. When you have determined a suitable value, click on OK. The smoothedimage appears.SharpenUse Sharpen to improve the appearance of soft or blurry looking pictures.
