If several subcontractors are workingin the same work area and the tidiness in this work area is not sufficient, HPE will engage athird party to make the area tidy again. The costs will be passed on pro rata to those that causedthe mess.3.4.1.3. Storage areas and storing materialsThe subcontractors' storage areas are marked. All subcontractors are required only to use the areasallocated to them, to deal with them economically and to keep them tidy at all times.If subcontractors' materials or storage containers are not located within the allocated area they willbe relocated by the HPE site manager without prior warning at the subcontractor's expense or removedfrom the site. The contractor shall bear any costs for this.Each subcontractor's storage area must be carefully fenced off. A board with the name of the relevantsubcontractor and name and telephone number of the responsible construction manager mustbe affixed.Permission must be obtained from HPE before materials are stored anywhere other than the allocatedareas. Only sufficient material to cover the daily requirements must be brought in from thestores.Materials must be stored tidily. Traffic routes and work areas must be kept free. The HPE constructionmanager must be informed immediately of any interference.3.4.1.4. Storing gas bottles and combustible materialsThis section deals with any portable gas bottles, LPG (propane, butane) containers, diesel containers,solvents and other combustible materials. All subcontractors are responsible for ensuring thattheir materials comply with the following principles: Gas bottles and other gas-filled containers must be protected against mechanical, chemical andthermal effects. Substances that react with each other and in doing so could emit heat or poisonous fumes orgases must be stored separately. Combustible materials must be stored in adequate, ventilated metal containers that are labelledwith "Combustible materials". Gas bottles must be stored upright and in a stable position. If they are used underground thebottles must be fitted with special sealed closures. Gas bottles must not be stored underground. “Hot-work activities” must not take place in the vicinity of places where combustible materials orfuels are stored. A suitable fire extinguisher must be kept in the vicinity of any area where combustible materialsor fuel are stored.
