ScaffoldingAll materials for scaffolding and the requirements for the qualification of the scaffolder and hisworkers must meet the requirements of local legislation.The scaffolding subcontractor is responsible for ensuring that the scaffolding is erected and takendown safely and for ensuring that it is constantly safe for users.Scaffolding must only be erected by suitable technically qualified people. The work must be commissionedby a suitably qualified, authorised person on site. If personal protective equipment toprevent falling is used additional training/ exercises are required.A <strong>plan</strong> for erecting, converting and taking down the scaffolding (assembly instructions) must becompiled based on the scaffolding manufacturer's instructions for erection and use by the subcontractorresponsible for the scaffolding work or an authorised person specified by him for this.This <strong>plan</strong> must be available to those carrying out the work. The workers must be briefed about this.The subcontractor responsible for setting up the scaffolding must have the scaffolding erected byhim inspected after assembly by a person authorised to do this based on a <strong>plan</strong> for the erection,conversion and taking down (assembly instructions) and the instructions for setting up and using.The responsible subcontractor who uses the scaffolding must have it inspected for operationalsafety before it is used for the first time by an authorised person to ensure that it is suitable for thework to be carried out. This person must also keep a "scaffolding log" in which the: scaffolding number location erection date transfer date test data (normally weekly) dismantling dateare recorded. The scaffolding log should be recorded in electronic form.The subcontractor's system should be used as a basis for the electronic system. The data shouldbe updated once a week between the subcontractor's and the HPE version.Essential elements of safe scaffolding are: stability, rigidity, anchoring, 3 part side protection, ifnecessary anti-fall guards on the inside using internal side protection or panels, as far as possiblefull-boarded covering, corner protection, accessibility, if necessary providing protective scaffolding,if necessary guards against falling parts.VOR180_1 Seite / Page 41 ÷ 56HPES-306-001-e-Standard <strong>HSE</strong> Plan Ausg. / Issue 03.2011
