Storing potentially hazardous productsWhen storing substances in accordance with the Hazardous Substances Regulations, the legal andAccident Prevention and Insurance Association regulations (e.g. GefStoffV, BetrSichV and WHG)and technical regulations must be strictly observed. The relevant technical regulations must be observed,for example, stack heights, storage area composition, collecting areas.Interim storage of waste without using container systems (e.g. in unsecured open areas) must beagreed with the client. Storage areas must be secured. Pollution of the soil, the surrounding earthand the sewerage system must be precluded. The storage location must be determined by the subcontractortogether with the client.Storing combustible waste, oily rags and combustible materials or inflammable articles is only permittedin the facilities provided for them. These facilities must be marked accordingly on site.3.5.5.4. Proper disposalThe contractor must observe the provisions of the Closed Substance Cycle Waste ManagementAct (KrW-/ AbfG) with the relevant regulations of the KrW-/ AbfG (e.g. the packaging regulationstoo). The contractor must inform the client about the <strong>plan</strong>t's existing waste management system.The contractor is responsible for the disposal of waste that he owns as long as nothing to the contraryhas been contractually agreed.The contractor must prove to the client that the waste has been disposed of through the properchannels. The corresponding proofs (disposal certificates, advice notes etc.) must be submitted tothe client on request. The client may check the waste to be disposed of by the contractor before itleaves the site.Any waste that is disposed of by the client must be kept separated into recyclable lots dependingon the type of material in accordance with the local disposal requirements.The contractor is expressly forbidden to pick up the client's waste.Illegal depositing of waste on the site will be prosecuted. The person responsible will bear the costsof removal.3.5.6. Waterways protectionIf there is the risk that local waterways or groundwater could be affected by work processes, HPE'spermission must be obtained in good time before work starts.Waste water must be treated in accordance with the contractual conditions, the local laws and <strong>Hitachi</strong>'senvironmental guidelines. The waste water quality must comply with the requirements of thedrainage system.Each subcontractor will inform HPE in advance of environmental protection requirements for soil,waterways, vegetation, animals etc.3.5.7.
