Thetoe boards must not tip. Without static proof the following may be used as guard rails and middlerails:with a distance between the uprights of up to 2.00 m boards with a minimum cross section of 15 x 3cmwith a distance between the uprights of up to 3.00 m boards with a minimum cross section of 20 x 4cm or Ø 48.3 x 3.2 mm steel pipes or Ø 48.3 x 4 mm. aluminium pipes. Toe boards must projectbeyond the surface for at least 15 cm. Minimum thickness 3 cm.3.4.19. Radiography testsRadiography tests basically require a permit to work. The work is co-ordinated by the SiGeKo/Permit Manager.All official regulations that govern the use, storage and handling of a radiation source must be compliedwith.Dealing with radioactive materials is basically only permitted if corresponding handling permits areavailable in the subcontractor's name and a copy of the decision of the radiation protection officerhas been submitted to the site. Only officially recognised specialists are allowed to deal directly withradioactive materials.Contractors who work with radioactive materials must notify the client in writing of the time and theplace and the subcontractor's radiation protection officer at least one working day before workstarts. When carrying out radiography tests on welded seams in particular the responsible radiationprotection officer must check whether safety-related EMR measuring equipment in the vicinity ofthe test location can be affected.Places where a radioactive radiation source is used must be properly indicated and secured.The Radiation Protection Regulations (StrlSchV) and any riders and requirements of the handlingpermits in force must be strictly observed.In addition <strong>plan</strong>t-specific regulations must be observed.Material tests with X-rays or gamma rays must be carried out either outside normal working hoursor, if possible, in special areas to which unauthorised people do not have access.A precise procedure description with a risk analysis must be compiled by the subcontractor carryingout the work which shows the work procedures, the equipment used and the safety zones and specialprotective measures in place. When the application is made this document must be submittedto the responsible authorities one week before the HPE work starts.Storage of radioactive materials on the site is forbidden.This permission to carry out the aforementioned work does not replace the pre-requisites that needlegal approval under the terms of the X-ray and radiation protection regulations.3.4.20. Fire and explosion preventionSubcontractors are responsible for checking whether sufficient precautionary measures have beentaken to prevent fire in their relevant work areas.
