If this is not possible theyshould be isolated by restricting the number of staff that comes into contact with them. In generalcareful handling and continuous checks by supervisors are mandatory.Above all normal hygiene regulations at work must be observed too, such as not eating, drinking orsmoking, avoiding contact with the skin, storing contaminated clothes separately and in general takingparticular care when handling, wearing something to protect the skin etc.A collecting tank must be used for liquids. Subcontractors are responsible for notifying HPE immediatelyof any spills of chemicals, oils, fuels, solvents, acids, pickling substances etc. In an emergency(fire, environmental damage) the internal emergency number must be called immediately(xxxxxxxxx).The subcontractor will inform the client immediately. In the event of environmental pollution the correctprotective measures to solve the problem must be taken, if necessary using a specialist company.3.4.21.2. Explosive substancesAll relevant regulations and the client's special instructions must be observed for the storage ofcombustible and explosive substances of any kind and gas bottles.Storage locations outside the sites must be specified by the subcontractor.A warning notice "Beware gas bottles" must be affixed to the entrances to workshops and otherclosed rooms. In addition, next to the doors a notice with the ground plan of the building or the areaand the specified locations of the gas bottles must be affixed.Gas bottles must only be transported with the cap screwed down. Bottles must be secured duringtransport and storage.3.5. Environmental protection3.5.1. General provisions for environmental protectionThe contractor must obey the relevant environmental protection laws and regulations (e.g. FederalImmission Protection Act, Waste Act, Federal Water Act).Special requirements must be recorded in writing or ascertained from environmental protection officersby the client's authorised agent. The rules on the company's emergency and hazard plan orcomparable documentation must be obeyed.The client must be informed of any work that could have an effect on the environment.Precautions must be taken to prevent environmental pollution (e.g. air, noise, water, earth). Public safety and environmental protectionIf there is a risk of danger to the public by falling parts, transport procedures, pollution, risk of trippingup etc. this area must be made safe. In addition, HPE's site manager must be informed immediately.All people involved must keep the effects on the surrounding environment as low as possible by usingenvironmentally-friendly working methods, substances and equipment.Dust build up must be kept to a minimum.3.5.3. Protecting local vegetationIf there is the risk that local vegetation could be affected by work processes, HPE's permissionmust be obtained in good time before work starts.Each subcontractor will inform HPE in advance of environmental protection requirements for soil,waterways, vegetation, animals etc.3.5.4. Disposing of, storing and recycling wasteThe subcontractor must compile a disposal and recycling plan for the removal of waste. HPE hasXXXX as a contractual partner for waste disposal.As large a part of waste as possible should be sent for recycling. Thus, for example, waste woodand paper and cardboard should be sent to the paper industry, mineral waste prepared for roadbuilding, mixed waste further treated by XXXX and residual combustible substances used to burnwaste. Waste must be separated accordingly.3.5.5. Waste/ products that are a potential risk3.5.5.1. Hazardous substances and wasteWhen dealing with waste or products which can be assumed to be a risk for people and the environmentGefStoffV (§ 14) and BGV A1 (§ 7 Para. 2) must be observed particularly. A copy of thevalid EC safety data sheet and the full operating instructions in accordance with § 14 GefStoffVmust be submitted to the client (e.g. specialist safety officers) and kept at the place of use. If necessaryan occupational medical must be performed.Dealing with asbestos must be reported to the responsible authorities immediately, no later thantwo weeks before work starts.3.5.5.2. Supplying potentially hazardous productsWhen potentially hazardous products are delivered the contractor must find out about the potentialhazards of these materials. These products must be labelled in accordance with the Gefahrstoffverordnung(GefStoffV) (Hazardous substances regulations).
