Weather conditionsThe necessary protective measures for building in the cold season must be specified by the respectivesubcontractors as part of a workplace-related risk assessment.Work places and traffic routes must be safe to walk on and not slippery. They must be kept free ofsnow and ice by the relevant subcontractors and lit sufficiently.Stationary work places must also be protected from the weather and if necessary heated.Suitable protective clothing must be provided for the employees by the relevant subcontractors.Appliances and construction machinery must be protected so that they can be operated safely (e.g.remove ice from windscreens, loosen operating levers and ensure there is no danger of slipping onareas that are walked on or walked up). Take care when operating construction machinery on frozenearth. Engines must be operated in accordance with the operating instructions.Frozen earth must be protected from collapsing (when it thaws).3.4.2. Site co-ordinationThe client is normally responsible for the co-ordination of the whole site. In accordance with the siteregulations the client will provide a SiGeKo.3.4.3. Work permit system3.4.3.1. Work permit system (PTW system)The permission to work system is used to monitor specific work that is considered potentially dangerous.In addition close co-operation between the construction management and the employeescarrying out the work on site must be guaranteed. This applies to each subcontractor.Work permits are only issued if a risk analysis (cf. Sec. 1.9) has been carried out before workstarts.The client in consultation with HPE will determine what type of work requires a work permit beforework starts on the site.
