The Movement in IndiaPradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkh<strong>and</strong>, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh,Tamil Nadu, Kerala <strong>and</strong> Karnataka Provinces. The problem in Bihar,Orissa, Jharkh<strong>and</strong>, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra <strong>and</strong> Andhra Pradeshhas assumed serious law <strong>and</strong> order problems. In the last few years, the Nepalexperience has given a new hope to the Maoist militants <strong>and</strong> they arebeginning to gain the upper h<strong>and</strong> as compared to the <strong>Police</strong> <strong>and</strong> Army.The Maoists have, in fact, captured the power in Nepal in alliance withother political parties.Among the major Naxal groups, the CPI (Maoist) has emerged as thecontinuous <strong>of</strong>fensive against the police <strong>and</strong> persons coming in its way.prominent Naxal leader in Andhra Pradesh. The CPI-ML-Party Unity -a powerful Naxal group <strong>of</strong> Bihar had merged with it in 1998. Afterthat, serious efforts were made to achieve unity with MCC (MaoistThe Maoist militants have also developed links with other terroristgroups operating in North-East, Jammu & Kashmir <strong>and</strong> Communist Party<strong>of</strong> Nepal (Maoist).
