Operation • Operator Functions •• Setting Up RoadRunner for a Programming JobOperator FunctionsSetting Up RoadRunner for a Programming JobJob cards for RoadRunnermay also be used inData I/O’s FlashPAK programmer.Before programming devices, several steps must be taken to ensure that theRoadRunner is properly configured.Options comprising a job, or task, are normally selected at a PC by aProLINE-RoadRunner system supervisor or someone from the engineeringstaff. The instructions are then written to a PCMCIA memory card. Theinstructions (or “job card”) are inserted into the RoadRunner. RoadRunneruses job instructions to program semiconductor devices. A job contains theprogramming algorithm, the number of devices to process, special deviceoptions, and other items important for the programming of the device.Once the PCMCIA memory card (PC-Card) is inserted into the RoadRunner,the job is ready to run. If more than one job resides on the card, then the joblast selected by the system supervisor will be run.If the card has administrator authority then the operator can change theselected job. Decide which job you wish to run, then see the following sectionsfor RoadRunner preparation and setup.3Socket Adapters forData I/O’s FlashPAK programmerare interchangeablewith RoadRunnerSocket Adapters.See the Socket Adapterscrews in Figure 3-3.Changing the Socket AdapterThe Socket Adapter is the interface between the device and the programmer.Each individual package type that is processed by the RoadRunner has itsown unique Socket Adapter.To change the Socket Adapter:1. Switch the RoadRunner power switch off [0].(Operators may push the Emergency-Stop button instead of switchingthe power switch off.)2. Lift off the Robotics Cover.3. Move the PNP head away from the programmer socket module to allowroom to work. When power is switched off, or the E-Stop is engaged,the head is easily moved back and forth by hand.4. Pull the Actuator Plate away from the RoadRunner by sliding it from thegrooved brackets.5. Unscrew the two captive screws that secure the adapter bracket. Onceloosened, the screws will remain in the bracket screw holes.CAUTION: Electrostatic discharge (ESD) may damageparts.
